This page states the cancellation and refund terms for reservations made with Maya Explorer Tours. It is our written private tour cancellation policy in Yucatan, including refund timelines, weather closures, no-show terms, and the required cancellation method for your reservation.
These cancellation terms apply to private tours and shared departures unless a specific tour page states stricter terms in writing. If terms differ for a specific experience, the stricter written terms shown at booking control that reservation.
Guest Cancellation Policy (Private Tour Cancellation Policy Yucatan)
1) Cancellation more than 48 hours before departure
If you cancel more than 48 hours before your confirmed departure time, we issue a full refund. To cancel, you must send your request on WhatsApp with your booking name and tour date. We process the refund within 5–10 business days after confirmation.
2) Cancellation within 48 hours before departure
If you cancel within 48 hours of departure, the cancellation fee is 50% of the tour total and the remaining 50% is refunded. WhatsApp notification is required so we can log the cancellation time against your departure window.
3) Same-day cancellation or late cancellation close to pickup
Same-day cancellations are treated under the within-48-hours rule above unless a specific product has stricter written terms. If your reservation includes third-party components that are immediately non-refundable, those supplier rules may apply as disclosed at booking.
What Happens If We Cancel Your Tour
If Maya Explorer Tours cancels due to hurricanes, extreme weather, unsafe road conditions, government restrictions, or closure of Chichen Itza or another included site, you choose either a free reschedule or a full refund. We send cancellation notices by WhatsApp as early as possible before departure when operational risk becomes clear.
If we cancel for any non-weather operational reason, we issue a full refund within 5–10 business days or move your reservation to a new date at no extra charge, based on your preference. You are never charged a cancellation fee when Maya Explorer Tours initiates the cancellation.
No-Show Policy
If a guest does not arrive at the scheduled pickup time and does not contact us in advance, the booking is treated as a no-show and is non-refundable. If you are running late, message the coordinator on WhatsApp immediately.
The guide can wait a reasonable period when tour timing allows, but wait time is limited by site entry slots, route timing, and legal driving-hour limits. A late arrival that prevents operation of the itinerary may still be treated as a no-show.
How to Cancel or Reschedule
All cancellations and reschedules are handled by WhatsApp only at +1 (787) 978-4193. We do not process cancellation requests through an online form or by email. Send your full name, tour date, and the request type (cancel or date change) in one message so we can confirm quickly.
