How do I book a tour with Maya Explorer Tours?+
Contact us via WhatsApp, phone, or email. We confirm availability within minutes, send a quote, and secure your date. No deposit is required — you can pay on arrival or by secure online payment. WhatsApp is fastest: average response under 5 minutes.
Is a deposit required to hold a date?+
No deposit required. We confirm your date via WhatsApp, and payment is made on the day of the tour or in advance by card if you prefer.
What payment methods do you accept?+
Visa, Mastercard, American Express, PayPal, and cash in USD or MXN. Payment can be made online in advance or on the day of your tour.
What is your cancellation policy?+
Free cancellation up to 48 hours before your tour with a full refund. Cancellations within 48 hours may incur a 50% fee. No-shows are non-refundable.
Can I book a tour the same day or last minute?+
Often yes — WhatsApp us and we will check availability immediately. Same-day bookings depend on guide and vehicle availability.
Do you offer group discounts?+
Groups of 6 or more receive 10% off. Groups of 10 or more receive 15% off. Contact us for custom pricing for larger groups or corporate bookings.
Do all tours include hotel pickup? Which cities are covered?+
Yes — hotel pickup is included from Cancun Hotel Zone, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, and Riviera Maya resorts. Merida and Valladolid pickups are available for select tours. Exact pickup time is confirmed 24 hours before your tour.

What languages are your guides available in?+
English, Spanish, French, German, and Italian. Language preference should be specified when booking. Private tours offer the most flexibility — your guide is assigned based on your language request.
Are tours suitable for children? What are the age and pricing tiers?+
Yes — children aged 0–3 are free, ages 4–12 receive discounted rates, and children 13 and above pay the adult rate. Our guides regularly work with families and adjust pace and commentary accordingly. Note that the whale shark tour has an age minimum — confirm at booking.
What happens if it rains on my tour day?+
Tours run rain or shine. Tropical showers in Yucatan are short and usually pass within 20 minutes. We carry ponchos for all guests. Only hurricane-level weather triggers a cancellation with a full refund.
Do I need to tip my guide?+
Tips are not required but are appreciated. $5–10 USD per person is customary in Mexico for a day tour. Guides keep 100% of tips directly.

How much does a private Chichen Itza tour cost?+
Private tours start from $890 per group (not per person). Cost depends on group size, pickup location, and inclusions.
Are entrance tickets included in the tour price?+
Yes — entrance fees for both INAH and CULTUR are included in all Chichen Itza packages. Admission is arranged in advance to reduce ticket-window waiting.
How long does a full Chichen Itza day take from each departure city?+
From Cancun: 10–12 hours total. From Playa del Carmen: 9–11 hours. From Tulum: 9–11 hours. From Merida: 7–8 hours.
Can you still climb the pyramid at Chichen Itza in 2026?+
No — climbing El Castillo has been prohibited since 2006 to protect the structure. Ek Balam is still open for climbing.
What is the best time to arrive at Chichen Itza?+
Before 10 AM is best to avoid peak crowds and heat. Early arrivals also get cooler weather and softer morning light for photos.
Who is the Express Tour best for?+

Can you still climb a pyramid anywhere in the Yucatan in 2026?+
Nohoch Mul at Coba and the Acropolis at Ek Balam both allow managed climbs in 2026. Coba reopened in December 2025 with an INAH wooden staircase. Chichen Itza and Tulum prohibit climbing.
How does Tulum ruins compare to Chichen Itza?+
