Check AvailabilityThe Tulum Ruins + Cenote Day Trip bundles a guided visit of the Tulum archaeological site — the only Maya city built directly on the Caribbean coast — with a cenote swim and lunch in Tulum, all in one private group day from your hotel. Pickup is at 8:00 AM and drop-off around 3:00 PM, with private A/C transport, a bilingual guide, snacks, water, soft drinks, snorkel equipment, and towels included. Pricing is per private group from $990, not per person.
The morning starts at the Tulum ruins: El Castillo on the cliff above the sea, the Temple of the Frescoes, and the Temple of the Wind God, all arranged along the limestone coastline. Your bilingual guide walks you through the site's late Postclassic history, its role as a Maya trading and astronomical centre, and how it fit into the broader network that included Coba and Chichen Itza — followed by free time to explore on your own.
From the ruins, the day trip continues to a cenote near Tulum for a swim and snorkel — a refreshing complement to a morning on the coast. The specific cenote depends on itinerary, conditions, and availability on the day; let us know your preferences on WhatsApp when booking. Lunch in Tulum is included before the return drive.
🏛 Choosing between Tulum tour formats?
For archaeology-first guiding with an INAH-certified expert, see our Tulum Ruins Tour. For a flexible per-person expedition with early crowd avoidance and no lunch, see the Private Tulum & Cenote Expedition. For a full-day nature experience near Tulum, the Sian Ka'an biosphere tour covers mangrove channels, wildlife, and UNESCO-protected wetlands.
If your trip also includes Chichen Itza, the Chichen Itza + cenote combo tour pairs the archaeological site with a cenote swim in a single private day from Cancun or Playa del Carmen.
What's Included in the Tulum & Cenote Tour
Tulum Ruins — The Only Maya City on the Caribbean Coast
Tulum is the only Maya city built directly on the Caribbean coast — the ruins sit on a limestone cliff overlooking turquoise water, with El Castillo, the Temple of the Frescoes, and the Temple of the Wind God arranged along the seafront. Your bilingual guide walks you through the layout, the trade and astronomical functions of the site, and the late Postclassic context in which Tulum thrived. Free time afterwards lets you take photos and explore the inner pathways at your own pace.
Cenote Swim & Snorkel Near Tulum
After the ruins, the tour stops at a cenote near Tulum for a swim and snorkel. The Yucatan Peninsula sits over one of the largest freshwater cave networks in the world, and the cenotes around Tulum are crystal-clear, naturally cool, and a refreshing complement to a morning at the archaeological site. Snorkel equipment and towels are included. Specific cenote selection depends on itinerary, conditions, and availability on the day.
Lunch in Tulum — Included
Lunch in Tulum is included in the tour. A relaxed sit-down meal after the cenote swim, before the return drive — a chance to refuel and unwind without having to plan or pay for anything extra on the day.
Private Transport, Bilingual Guide
Private A/C transport with door-to-door pickup and drop-off, plus a bilingual guide for the entire tour. Snacks (crackers, guacamole, seasonal fruit, chocolates, granola bars), water, and soft drinks are on board. No marketplace shuffling, no shared minibus — just your group.

Pickup at 8:00 AM, ruins from 9:00 AM, cenote from 11:00 AM, lunch from 12:30 PM, return from 2:00 PM and hotel drop-off around 3:00 PM. Long enough to see Tulum properly and enjoy a cenote, short enough to leave the rest of the day open.

✓ Verified Tour Guest"Dos Ojos Cave Snorkeling Is the Most Surreal Experience of My Life"
I have snorkeled in coral reefs across the Pacific and Caribbean. Nothing prepared me for Dos Ojos. You float through a cave of stalactites and stalagmites in water so clear it looks like you are suspended in air. Shafts of light filter through from above. Our guide Miguel explained how the formations took hundreds of thousands of years to develop. The silence inside the cave is total except for the water. Then Gran Cenote for open-sky swimming with freshwater turtles. The two cenote types in one day is genius — the contrast between the cave and the open cenote is remarkable.

✓ Verified Tour Guest"The Rappelling Entry Into the Cenote — I Still Think About It"
We specifically asked about rappelling when booking and our guide Ana arranged it. Descending by rope into a cenote — rock walls rising around you, the surface glowing turquoise below — is something I cannot fully describe. Once in the water it becomes another world: stalactites above, Sac Actun cave system extending into the dark, fish moving through impossibly clear water. I'm not usually someone who seeks adventure activities. I am now. Our guide's knowledge of the underground river geology added genuine depth to what could have been just a fun swim.

✓ Verified Tour Guest"Gran Cenote in the Morning — Zero Crowds, Maximum Magic"
We arrived at Gran Cenote at 9:00 AM and had it almost entirely to ourselves. The light was still low and coming in at an angle — the rock formations cast shadows into the water and the visibility must have been 20 metres. A large green turtle swam directly underneath me while I was snorkeling. By the time we left at 10:30, tour groups were starting to arrive. Our guide Carlos was specific about morning timing for exactly this reason. Then Dos Ojos for the cave section — dramatic contrast. Two hours on the water, beautiful snacks, back by midday. Perfect.
Common Themes in Reviews:
